Co-Supervision by Faculty members at the Deparment of Philosophy

Doctoral researchers may find themselves in need of additional supervision in order to gain supervisory time, obtain more feedback, or because their research may benefit from the expertise of more than one member of the Philosophy Department faculty.

Doctoral researchers, either on the recommendation of the supervisor, or on their own initiative, may request additional supervision from a member of the faculty staff. This should be negotiated with the primary supervisor who may recommend a specific member of the faculty to act as a second supervisor.

Once the potential additional supervisor is identified, the researcher should contact the supervisor to request co-supervision of the doctoral project.

If the additional supervisor agrees to take on this responsibility, the researcher has to re-submit the form SL.D11, keeping the information of the main supervisor and adding the new supervisor's information to formalize the process.

Please send the form to doktoratsstudium.philosophie@univie.ac.at, forwarding a copy to the VDP coordinator (vd.philosophy@univie.ac.at). Any questions should be directed to the VDP coordinator.
